Transfer Experts Reveals price for Liverpool to land Jeremy Doku

Exclusive: Transfer expert reveals Liverpool must pay €50m+ to Land attacker – ‘it could go pretty quickly’

Speaking exclusively to Anfield Central as part of a Q&A, Sacha Tavolieri, an expert on Belgian transfers, provides the lowdown on Jeremy Doku.

The 19-year-old is a rapid forward who caught the eye at the EUROs with this dribbling and fearless display against the eventual champions Italy.

He gave Giovanni Di Lorenzo the toughest game of his tournament, constantly twisting and turning and while he is still very young, it’s clear Doku is destined to be a top player.

After revealing to fellow fansites the Anfield Talk and LFC Transfer Room that Liverpool want to sign Doku this summer, we spoke to Sacha Tavolieri ourselves.

Are Liverpool planning a bid for Doku?

For the moment, Liverpool is not planning to make an offer. Things could change but it’s not the way and information I heard.

€50m is his price – will Rennes be willing to negotiate lower or accept a staggered payment structure?

If Liverpool wants Doku, they are going to pay minimum of €50m because Rennes is not ready to let the player go for the moment.

They count on them and they want him to be their main player for the season.

Does the play want to move to Liverpool?

The player is really happy in Rennes for the moment but loves Liverpool and Liverpool loves him from years too.

Liverpool can sign him without selling due to his age as non-homegrown rules don’t apply so does them needing to sell Shaqiri or Origi first have to do with making space in the squad rather than Premier League rules?

Of course, Liverpool needs to make space first before making a choice before transferring a future offensive player.

I heard also they could make the choice to let young players from the academy having their chance this season if a transfer is too complicated to do.

Have Liverpool been in talks with his agent and Rennes?

Yes, I can confirm that the agency of Jeremy Doku has already been in contact with Liverpool. They know each other so if they want to go further, it could go pretty quickly.

Can he fill Sadio Mane’s shoes one day?

Yes, Jeremy Doku has the style but also the ability to get his level but he needs to increase his capacity in front of the goal and has to be more precise on the future.

I’m sure he will make a new step on that perspective next season.

Verdict: The bottom line here is that Liverpool need to make space in their squad before bringing Doku in this summer.

Non-homegrown rules might not apply to him but Jurgen Klopp is now able to call on Harvey Elliott, Diogo Jota, Divock Origi and, until he’s officially sold, Xherdan Shaqiri.

Adding Doku to the mix would see Liverpool’s forward options become too congested but with Shaqiri likely to leave, we could see some movement although it’s very likely that Elliott is the Swiss forward’s heir.

Ismaila Sarr Updates

20-Goal Forward Asks To Leave Club Amid Long-Standing Liverpool Interest - Report

Liverpool have continually been linked with a move for Watford forward Ismaila Sarr.

The Reds’ reported interest in the Senegal international popped up last summer, before signing Diogo Jota.

Some outlets mused Sarr was the alternative for the former Wolves star, while others claim Jurgen Klopp wanted both players.

Transfer Market Web, as cited by the Express, report that Liverpool are set to revisit their interest in the Watford forward.

Ismaila Sarr and Sadio Mane are Senegal team-mates

Sarr, who has scored 20 goals for the Hornets since 2019, is said to have asked to leave the club, as per the above report.

It’s unclear if the 23-year-old’s decision has anything to do with Liverpool, or indeed if the rumour is even accurate – but the Echo ran a story last summer that confirmed the Reds were keen on Sarr, which at least solidifies that part of the new claims.

Injury Update

Liverpool receive another huge Andy Robertson injury boost after worrying blow in pre-season friendly

Jurgen Klopp says that Andy Robertson’s pain has already settled after the left-back suffered an injury scare on Sunday afternoon.

The Reds drew 1-1 with Athletic Bilbao but looked to be in devastating attacking form in the first half and fans have a right to be excited.

Anfield was once again packed with fans and were treated to the wonderful sight of Diogo Jota rippling the back of the net after Naby Keita intercepted a poor pass out the back from Bilbao.

The home crowd almost exploded in delight moments later when Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Jota combined for what would have been an incredible counter-attacking goal.

Jota’s shot was cleared off the line but Mane could’ve had a pre-assist while Salah’s delightful trivela assist would have been the highlight of pre-season for me.

However, many supporters have forgotten the display we were treated to as Andy Robertson’s ankle injury cast a shadow on the game but it seems that there’s a decent chance the injury isn’t as serious as it first looked.

RELATED NEWS: WHY LFC WON'T SELL KEITA

The Scotsman is old fashioned in that he isn’t the type to roll around on the surface and over exaggerate so you know when he’s clutching his ankle something is seriously wrong.

That’s why when Naby Keita covered his face in horror I feared for the worst. As I already wrote, I genuinely believed that Robbo broke his ankle but it seems that is unlikely which is a massive relief.

Jurgen Klopp has revealed that Robertson is already without pain most of his pain which is a huge indicator that it’s not a serious ligament injury.

 RELATED NEWS: A NEW COUTINHO?

I’m no doctor but in 2019 I tore ligaments in my ankle during a five-a-side game and it was so painful I couldn’t even bear the weight of a duvet on my ankle so it’s massive news that Robertson is comfortable.

Following the game, Jรผrgen Klopp told his post-match press conference: “We obviously don’t know in the moment how serious it is. It was pretty painful and that’s why Andy went off.

“You probably saw it on the TV pictures better than we did, but he got the ball, the ball on the front of his foot, [and] twisted the ankle.

“The pain settled already, but we cannot say anything further without further assessment tomorrow. He has to get a scan and then we will know more.”

Robertson will undergo scans on his ankle today and will then find out the severity of his injury but the hope is that he won’t be missing for too long.

Pearce identifies £52.75m reason for Liverpool holding on to underperforming star

James Pearce has made it clear that Naby Keita will not be sold this summer, with the club likely to suffer a significant loss if they were prepared to part ways with the midfielder.

Heralded by some as the heir to Steven Gerrard, the No.8 has far from filled the former skipper’s boots, with injuries plaguing his time in Merseyside.

“Unless there’s a dramatic change of heart, Keita is staying put,” the journalist wrote for The Athletic.

“He has looked very sharp in pre-season. The big question is whether he can stay fit and belatedly show us all on a consistent basis what we know he’s capable of.

“I can see the club’s logic. He cost £52.75 million. If Liverpool had tried to sell him this summer in the current COVID-affected market they would have been lucky to get £15 million for him.

“That would have been a hefty loss and Klopp genuinely still believes in him.”

Jurgen Klopp’s men are nonetheless thought to remain interested in securing a replacement for former No.5 Gini Wijnaldum, whose durability is likely to be highly missed in the next season.

The Guinea international has been a constant source of frustration for fans since his transfer from RB Leipzig.

After being pulled before the stroke of half-time during our away defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League last term, with Klopp offering the midfielder limited game time beyond that point, it seemed plausible that he would be sacrificed in the summer window.

With Keita set to be handed yet another chance, however, fans will no doubt be hoping to see the former Bundesliga star finally justify his price-tag.

Otherwise, many may feel that we should have cut our losses while we could.

Liverpool in serious danger of repeating last summer transfer window’s major mistake

Liverpool reach agreement to sign attacking midfielder – Report

Liverpool ended up finishing third in the Premier League last season and the two teams above them, Manchester United and Manchester City, have already spent heavily to reinforce their squads this summer.

The Red Devils have already lured proven players like Varane and Sancho and the Sky Blues have completed the signing of a PL star in the form of Jack Grealish. On the other hand, the Merseysiders have only managed to sign Ibrahima Konate, who was mostly on the treatment table in the last two campaigns.

RELATED NEWS: A NEW COUTINHO?

Jurgen Klopp needs to bring in quality players to challenge the Manchester clubs and Champions League winners Chelsea for the title next season. However, if reports in the media are anything to go by then the Reds have moved in to sign yet another youngster.

RELATED NEWS: WHY LIVERPOOL WON'T SELL KEITA

According to a story covered by Chronicle Live earlier in the day, Liverpool have reached an agreement with regards to fee to hire the services of Newcastle attacking midfielder, Bobby Clark. It is claimed that the six-time European Champions hope to confirm the deal soon.

The news source have mentioned that the Magpies wanted the 16-year-old boy to have a future at the club but the Anfield side have secured a deal to sign the attacker who was also on the radar of Premier League sides like Spurs and reigning champions Man City.

Clark is an England youth international at Under-16 level and he has already made one appearance in the U-18 Premier League for Newcastle United (Transfermarkt).

Not much is known about the teenage sensation but the fact that top PL clubs have been reportedly chasing his signature indicates that he is talented and has got a lot of potential.

Over the years, many young players (Gotze, Gundogan, Kagawa, Alexander-Arnold, Jones) have risen to fame under the management of Jurgen Klopp, who is renowned for promoting talented players. So, joining Liverpool could be a good move for Clark’s career.

However, for now, the Reds must focus on strengthening their first team before the closure of the summer transfer window this month.

Coutinho Junior?

Liverpool staff reportedly believe they have a 17-year-old like Philippe Coutinho

Liverpool staff compare 17-year-old Oakley Cannonier to Philippe Coutinho

Liverpool staff feel Oakley Cannonier could be like Philippe Coutinho, according to reports. The 17-year-old has already made a name for himself.

RELATED NEWS: WILL SALAH GO TO MADRID?

This comes from the Athletic. They ran a piece on Oakley Cannonier and his career so far. It’s been an unusual path for the 17-year-old.

RELATED NEWS: WHY LIVERPOOL WON'T SELL KEITA

Cannonier actually made a name for himself before turning 16. He did it in a Champions League game, in fact, despite not actually playing.

The teenager was the ballboy who threw the ball to Trent Alexander-Arnold before that quickly-taken corner against Barcelona in 2019. It was enough for Cannonier to find some fame as he trended on Twitter and had interview requests.

Now, though, Cannonier is a professional on Liverpool’s books. He signed his first contract in early July, tying him to the club for the next few years.

And he’s starting to make waves on the pitch now. A hat-trick against Chester in pre-season for the Under 18s caught the eye but Liverpool staff apparently love what they’re seeing in training, too.

Liverpool rate Cannonier

The Athletic writes that “his slight frame, low centre of gravity, nifty feet and deadly finish have drawn comparisons to Philippe Coutinho from club staff”.

Liverpool v Burnley: U18 Premier League

That’s a big comparison, given how good Coutinho was at Liverpool. Those staff saw the Brazilian at his brilliant best and not many have matched his ability over the years.

Perhaps Liverpool have yet another diamond in their ranks here, then. There are already the likes of Harvey Elliott, Kaide Gordon and Mateusz Musialowski coming through – will we be adding Cannonier to the list soon?

An injury-plagued 2020/21 did slow the teenager down but pre-season suggests he’s ready to get back on track. And if he does, the youngster may be one to watch.

It’s not often you can say that a 17-year-old has made his mark before even playing a game but it seems Liverpool might get even more out of Cannonier.

A name worth remembering for every Red.

Liverpool Fans buzzing as Mohamed Salah Contract Update Emerges

The Egyptian, who has played a vital role under manager Jurgen Klopp since he signed from AS Roma in the summer of 2017, definitely played his part over what was a difficult 2020/21 campaign. Blighted by injury problems, Liverpool couldn’t retain their Premier League crown as they watched Manchester City clinch domestic glory.

RELATED NEWS: A NEW COUTINHO?

RELATED NEWS: WHY LIVERPOOL WON'T SELL KEITA

liverpool fans are always interested when that their best player gets a new contract or a contract extension, in this case Salah is liverpool's best player in terms of attacking and there is nothing better than hearing that he is getting an extension. As we all know how this works he is surely going to get a raise

However, Salah remained imperious with his individual displays – scoring 22 goals and setting up five more in the Premier League alone whilst attempting more shots on goal per match (3.4) than any other Liverpool player (WhoScored).

As a result, many supporters are keen to see him tied down with a bumper new deal, and Liverpool Echo journalist Paul Gorst has brought an update.

He explained that FSG and the club are eager to reward the 29-year-old with a contract which will make him the highest-paid player in Liverpool’s history. Indeed, an increase on Salah’s current £200,000-per-week salary will even take him above the record shared by him and former Reds star Luis Suarez.

Buzzing over this “massively significant” update, many Reds fans took to Twitter in sheer joy over Liverpool’s stance – check out some of their best responses to LFC Transfer Room, Anfield Watch and Liverpool News below.

Transfer Updates

Liverpool are interested in a move for Bournemouth winger Arnaut Danjuma this summer but will have to pay €25m to get him.

That’s according to MARCA, who cover Liverpool’s interest today amid a report on Villarreal’s attempts to sign him.

Related News: Why Liverpool Won't Sell Keita

Danjuma was the star of the show for Bournemouth last season, scoring 15 goals and registering seven assists across the campaign.

That, say MARCA, has earned him plenty of attention and ‘revalued’ the forward for Bournemouth, who paid €16.5m for him two summers ago.

Such is the value of his stock at this point ‘several’ Premier League teams have ‘been interested in his services’, including Liverpool.

Related News: Will Salah Go To Madrid?

Now, there is no mention of a move from the Reds at this point, or whether there will be, just that they are among those interested in the Dutchman this summer.

If they make a move, they are unlikely to face competition from Villarreal as they can’t afford Danjuma at this moment in time.

MARCA explain that he is their main target this summer, however, Bournemouth’s €25m asking price is proving too high.

Liverpool's type of player is the goal scoring type but €25m is just to high for liverpool to spend for the AFC Bournemouth star.

They have already seen a €15m bid rejected and are unwilling to ‘do anything crazy’ to get the deal over the line.

Related News: A New Coutinho - Academy Graduate

So, if the Cherries don’t lower their demands, they won’t be making a move, leaving the way clear for Liverpool to get their man if they want him.

Whether they’re willing to pay €25m isn’t mentioned, but it seems the interest is there nonetheless.

๐Ÿ“‹๐Ÿ“‹Fernandinho has agreed to sign a one-year contract extension that will keep him at Manchester City for 2021/22.

๐Ÿ“‹๐Ÿ“‹Wolves have revealed that head coach Nuno Espirito Santo will be leaving the club this summer, with his final match in charge the home game with Man United on Sunday.

๐Ÿ“‹๐Ÿ“‹Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe has agreed personal terms with Real Madrid, according to a prominent French agent.

๐Ÿ“‹๐Ÿ“‹Jurgen Klopp says no team could have won the Premier League this season if they had the same injury issues as Liverpool. "No matter how good they are, if you kick out the three centre-halves at City, nope. If you kick out the three centre-halves at United, nope."

๐Ÿ“‹๐Ÿ“‹Jurgen Klopp has an outside chance of getting Ozan Kabak and Diogo Jota back for the showdown with Crystal Palace, but he is likely to go with the team that showed real mental strength to win at Burnley in midweek.

๐Ÿ“‹๐Ÿ“‹Liverpool will earn £58m just for qualifying for the Champions League should they beat Crystal Palace on Sunday.

๐Ÿ“‹๐Ÿ“‹Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has held 'positive talks' with Bayern Munich ahead of his imminent Anfield exit, according to reports.

                              BRITISH MAIL

๐Ÿ“‹๐Ÿ“‹FIFA president Gianni Infantino has insisted there was no 'collusion' over the European Super League project, despite claims from LaLiga president Javier Tebas that he was involved in the plans.

๐Ÿ“‹๐Ÿ“‹The Football Association have communicated to clubs that they must release their players for the forthcoming international fixtures amid confusion over travel restrictions.

๐Ÿ“‹๐Ÿ“‹Wolves are set to target another Portuguese coach to replace Nuno Espirito Santo with former Benfica boss Bruno Lage and ex-Porto chief Vitor Pereira among the contenders for the Molineux role.

๐Ÿ“‹๐Ÿ“‹Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha has admitted he wants to join a 'top team' and believes he 'deserves' the chance to get a big-money move this summer after missing out on one two years ago.

The team tweeted Sunday: “It is with great sadness that we hear of Gerry Marsden’s passing. Gerry’s words will live on forever with us. You’ll Never Walk Alone.”

They noted that “Gerry’s voice accompanied our biggest nights. His anthem bonded players, staff and fans around the world, helping create something truly special.”

Transfer Updates

Liverpool set to sign Birmingham defender after agreeing fee with Championship club

Liverpool are set to add another promising youngster to the ranks in England youth international Calum Scanlon, reports Paul Joyce in the Times.

The 15-year-old can play either in defence or midfield – and the Reds will pay £500k for his services – with Scanlon expected to arrive in January.

Obviously, he’ll join up with the Academy at first, and will compete with the U16s and U18s – before looking to fight his way into the U23s.

He is not the player who is going to bolster Jurgen Klopp’s defence in the short-term – but will be given a chance to develop at the new training facility – which now houses both the first-team and the youth sides.

This term, Curtis Jones has become a first-team regular, while Neco Williams and Caoimhin Kelleher have both made serious strides as well.

Leighton Clarkson made a Champions League debut, while Rhys Williams has shone when selected in central defence.

If Scanlon keeps his head down and works hard, perhaps he can follow in their footsteps in a few years’ time.

Van Dijk Injury Update

Huge injury boost for Liverpool as Virgil van Dijk could return to action this season

It was clear that Virgil van Dijk was going to be out for a long time after being on the receiving end of a horrible tackle from Jordan Pickford, but a lot of things were still unclear about his recovery.

Ultimately that would come down to the surgery and how that went, but there’s some great news for the club in that he could return to action this season:

Surgery news on van Dijk huge – means there's a chance he could play again this season.

Klopp says "it was the best news you can get" – and that is significant…means surgery clean & uncomplicated, which is min requirement to cut rehab time from 7+ months, to less than 6. #LFC https://t.co/BXvM4SQp9v

That’s great news for the defender as it could also give him plenty of hope for making the Netherlands team for EURO 2021 as well.

With such a nasty injury there’s always the possibility that he might need more time to get back to his best, and there’s a difference between knowing that he could return and wondering if he should.

The last thing anyone wants to see is him picking up another injury if he’s forced back too quickly, so the ideal situation for Liverpool will see them having little to play for in the final weeks of the season.

If for example the title is already wrapped up or they’re safe in the Champions League spots but some way off first place, then that allows them the freedom to gradually bring him back into the team and he won’t be under pressure to perform straight away.

It would all be part of a process to building him up towards next season anyway, but it will be an amazing recovery if he makes it back onto the  pitch this campaign.

Micah Richards makes surprising and bold claim about Liverpool considering his allegiances

Micah Richards thinks Liverpool are one season away from being the best team in Premier League history.

The former Manchester City defender turned pundit reckons that Jurgen Klopp’s Reds would eclipse Pep Guardiola’s Centurions, Arsenal’s Invincibles and the great sides managed by Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho if we galloped to glory once again.

Last term, we won the PL by 18 points, but in reality the gap was much bigger – as the title was wrapped up with seven games to go and at that point – we took our foot off the gas.

But City and Chelseas especially have spent big, while United have exceptional young players and Arsenal are a side with potential and a great striker.

So for Liverpool to go again, after two seasons of collecting 97 and then 99 points, with practically the same starting XI, will be a monumental achievement.

“If Liverpool win the title this season by clear daylight once again, we will be talking about the greatest team in Premier League history,” he wrote in his column for the Mail.

“That might seem a big thing for a former Manchester City player to say, given the rivalry that has developed in recent years between the clubs.

“I’m also making the statement as someone who was an Arsenal fan as young lad. I idolised the Invincibles and never thought they would be surpassed.

“But if Liverpool march away from the pack as they did last year, we will have to give them the ultimate acknowledgement. To win it again by another wide margin would be stunning as the challenge they face is completely different — and even more intense.”

Klopp fully backs the players currently at his disposal to do the job once again, and as a result, hasn’t pushed his owners into the transfer market – which we imagine suits FSG perfectly.
We’d like a few recruitments before the window closes, but still trust the current bunch of lads to do the business.
